Avoiding the high costs of new truck regulations? Many of our customers are buying late model trucks and staying away from newer models that include Advance EGR or SCR (urea) technology. They buy late model because it is a safer investment, at this point the industry has no idea which emission control technology will prevail in the long term and continue to meet future emission standards. SCR and advance EGR may not be the solution in 2014, no one knows just how well these trucks will hold up and what the true cost of operation will be. A few common Myths about SCR(urea):

• Myth: SCR (UREA) Yields a 5-9% fuel economy advantage - This has never been tested in North America

• Myth: A Yard Truck will not shut down if the Urea tank empties - Partial truth, it will de-rate the engine severely though.

• Myth: DEF will cost the same a diesel - and gas prices will fall back to $1.40 per gallon. Urea depends on natural gas pricing which swings pretty wildly we have seen a gallon of Urea sell for as much as $34.49 and as little as $4.00.
